The Birthdays Again this year, we had the kids' parties together (July 30th). This time, it was Chuck E. Cheese. It actually wasn't as big of a zoo as I had been fearing. We had about 18 kids there between the two of them...a nice turnout. |
Ms. Christie Even after a year away from his "old school", Maury still listed old school friends right away when I asked him who he wanted to invite. He also wanted to ask his pre-K4 teacher, Ms. Christie. I dutifully sent her an invite and told her he would love to see her. She showed up about one hour into the party and it was so wonderful of her to do that. I know that there are lots of other things a twenty-something could be doing with a Saturday afternoon, but we are so glad she chose to spend part of it at Chuck E. Cheese! |
The Trio Lizzie, Tamia and Danielle. I wonder if that combination of words strikes fear in the hearts of the teachers at her schoool. These three are thick as can be and that was no different at the birthday party. In fact, the party ended up being Lizzie and Danielle's party. Danielle's mom was planning her party for the same day and place and we were able to work it out so that the girls just shared a table at the same time. It worked perfectly! |
Clobberin' Time Maury hasn't even seen The Fantastic Four movie, but he loves The Thing. Our good friends gave Maury Thing hands and it was "clobberin' time" for at least a half an hour after he got that gift open. |
Every Girl's Dream Steve's cousin's girls gave Lizzie a Cinderella wedding gown to play dress up in. While Maury was still sounding like a bull in a china shop with his Thing hands on, Lizzie was getting dressed up like a perfect princess. |
And the Trophy Goes To... On August 6th, I ran a 5K and Lizzie and Steve came to see the aftermath. In fact, my friend Berne (in the red shirt) got Lizzie to help her out with the trophy presentations. Do I need to even say that Steve let Lizzie pick out her own outfit or do the black boots say it all? I would like to mention that she had on not one but two shirts that morning. Ah, trends. |
Game Face Did you notice that I said Steve and Lizzie came to see me after the race...no Maury? Maury was in Georgia visiting his Aunt Beth and Uncle Andy. Steve met them in Auburn for the hand off and they stopped by Auburn football practice while they were there. Maury totally looks like he is practicing his game face to me. |
Dancin' FOOL On Lizzie's birthday, we went to "Grandma" Macie's to celebrate. Maury and Lizzie both got CD players from Macie and they both loved them. Maury got a CD that had "We Will Rock You" on it. That has got to be the kids' theme song. And, boy, does he dance crazy when he hears it. |
Smile! All night long, Lizzie was completely aware of when a picture was being taken. She would turn to the camera and pose as soon as she realized what was happening. What a Hamm! (That is an intentional spelling ;-) ). |
All That and a Big Tent, Too Lizzie got a BIG Dora tent from her Nana and Papa for her birthday. She slept in it that night and is planning to do the same again tonight. That's my idea of roughing it, Lizzie. In your own room with your Princess bedrest, your Bratz pillow, and your Strawberry Shortcake sleeping bag. Right on. |
