Lizzie's Arrival Elizabeth Nikole was born at 6:25 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2001. She was 7 pounds 15 ounces and 21 inches long. The labor and delivery was longer than I had anticipated, but I guess good things are worth the wait! Lizzie was a little more than two weeks early, but other than a light case of jaundice, she was perfect! |
Mother and Daughter During the late part of labor and delivery, I developed an extreme case of the shakes. So, here I am with a heavy blanket on my shoulders holding my newborn daughter. I honestly cried when she was born (and not all because my epidural wasn't working right). She is just beautiful in my eyes and we are so glad she is here. |
The Namesakes We have had a girl's name picked out since long before we even started trying to have children. Here is Lizzie with her namesakes, our sisters. Nikki (Nikole) and Beth (Elizabeth) gave Lizzie a really neat gift for her birthday, too. A locket with an "L" engraved on it which will hold baby pictures of each of them! |
![]() Day Two Here's a little better close up of our baby girl on her second day. She was so alert on day two it was amazing. Not to start the comparisons already, but I will: Maury was such a sleepy newborn that most people never saw his eyes while we were in the hospital. |
Daddy's Little Girl Daddy sure loves his little girl. He doesn't get to hold her as much as he would like since I'm hogging her with breastfeeding, but he gets her when he can. He already knows things about her to calm her down (massaging her feet) and to wake her up (playing with her toes) that I hadn't really keyed in on. Pretty wonderful daddy, I think! |
![]() Going Home Turns out that we had to wait a full 48 hours to go home from the hospital because I had been Group Strep B positive. When we finally got to leave, we were SO ready to get out of there, it wasn't even funny. Here I am at the door with Lizzie ready to get in the car and flee for home! |
