Maury's First Birthday

I was so determined that we were going to have a Peanuts theme for his first birthday that I went against all the things that made it hard. I didn't find the invitations in any stores, so I ordered them online at Birthday Express. I couldn't find a stuffed Snoopy anywhere, but my sister came through with a wonderful one. The bakery here that I was planning to use didn't make a Snoopy cake, but one in my hometown did, so my mom took care of getting it for us. Isn't it great! I couldn't believe the cute cake for Maury was so wonderfully decorated, too!

Maury's Beautiful Aunts

Steve and I each have beautiful little sisters. Here is Maury with his doting aunts. My sister, Nikki, on the left, and Steve's sister, Beth, on the right.

Have Some Cake, Uncle Doug!

Maury was no novice to cake eating, as the picture on the previous page demonstrates. So, not only did he know what to do when we put his cake in front of him, he was ready to share it with his Uncle Doug. Maury doesn't see his Uncle Doug very often, but he always warms up to him pretty quickly. I think he knows a kid at heart when he sees one.

Let's See What's In There

Maury actually seemed to have somewhat of a concept that these packages were his. He "helped" his daddy and I open the presents. Please note that Daddy has a Charlie Brown shirt on. I wish I could tell you that that was purchased for the party, but, unlike everything else about that day, that was actually something that we had already!

Great Grandma Alma

I have mentioned earlier that Maury is very lucky to have two great grandmothers around. This is Maury with Great Grandma Alma (Nana's mother). Great Grandma lives about 3-4 hours away, so Maury doesn't get to see her as often as I would like, but it's definitely better than the 10-11 hour trip we had to make when I was little to see my grandparents and great grandfather.

Soft Rockin' Tigger

Anyone who saw the birthday ideas we had up prior to Maury's birthday may have noticed that the Soft Rockin' Tigger was listed as something Daddy loved. Shortly after I put the list up, Steve told me to mark it off. I assumed someone had told him they were going to get it for Maury. Yes, that was true...HIS DADDY! Here's Maury after bath time riding buck naked on his Tigger. He loves it. Both Tigger and being naked, that is.
