Maury's First Vacation

For the July 4th weekend, we embarked on a trip to Raleigh, North Carolina to visit our friends, Mike and Mary and their son, Mitch. The first night we were in town, we went to their neighborhood pool. Mitch is a big ham and he posed for a few pictures for me in between jumping in the pool to his daddy and going down the water slide with his daddy. Maury even tried the water slide with his dad! Maury spent most of the weekend watching big boy Mitch (2 years old) and admiring him.

Pullen Park

On Saturday, we went to Pullen Park in downtown Raleigh. The park has a wonderful carousel and a train that goes all the way around the park. We rode the train twice because Mitch is a HUGE train fan. This is Maury and me on the train the second time around.

Durham Braves

On Sunday afternoon, we all got in the car and headed slightly north to go to a Durham Braves game. One of Steve's fantasy football friends, Clay, is the general manager of the team. The ballpark where the team plays is the same park that the movie Bull Durham was filmed at. The Braves lost, but we had a great time.

July Fourth

We traveled home on Monday so we would have a day to recover before going back to work. So on July 4th, we were able to spend the evening with Steve's parents at a Williamsburg-type of area in his hometown. While Steve and his dad were waiting in an unbelievably long line for barbeque, Maury practiced walking and took his first couple of steps without holding anyone's hand right as Steve got back to where we were. Here is the big guy with Daddy as the sun was setting.
