Trip to Cincy In late September/early October, my sister and I took a trip to Cincinnati to visit some relatives. We both took Friday and Monday off so we could have a nice four day weekend. On Thursday night, Maury and I headed up to my sister's place. On Friday morning, while we loaded the car up, Maury played in the bed of his Uncle Cory's big ol' truck. |
At Uncle Dave and Aunt Cathy's After about a six hour drive, we were in Cincinnati at Uncle Dave and Aunt Cathy's home (really, they are Maury's Great Uncle and Aunt). This is Maury with his Aunt Nikki in front of their house. Two things about their home are in view here: 1) There is always an American flag flying proudly in the front and 2) There are always lots of acorns on the ground in the back (that's what Maury is clutching in his hand so proudly). |
We're Going to the Zoo Cincinnati has a wonderful zoo, so we used Maury as an excuse to go for a long overdue visit. This is Maury with Aunt Cathy...checking out the gorillas. By the end of the day, Aunt Nikki taught Maury how to scratch his belly like a monkey whenever she made the "ooh ooh" sound they make. |
Such a Cutie There really isn't a story to tell related to this picture, but I had to share it anyway. This was near the gorillas, too. We just plopped him down on a bench in front of the waterfall and he posed wonderfully like he always does. Maury's Aunt Beth has told us that people who look at our site always comment on how happy Maury seems. I wonder why anyone would put grumpy baby pictures on their web sites, but I will say that Maury IS an incredibly jovial little guy! |
Uncle Dawood is Tall We took a stroller to the zoo only to be reminded that nothing is visible from that level. So, Maury ended up being held up most of the day so he could see things. Here he is with his Uncle David, whose height gave him the best view! Maury was really pretty good at spotting animals and pointing for us to name them for him. |
The White Lions All of us agreed that our favorite part of the zoo was the white lion exhibit. If you look just past Maury's big noggin, you'll see one of the lions. Their habitat was huge and they were just beautiful. This is funny, but they were actually loaned to the zoo by Siegfried and Roy! And, no, I'm not just making a joke about Maury's big head. I found yet another shirt that he can't wear today because his head is too big for the opening! |
Just Take Those Old Records Off the Shelf OK, so the morons from down south went to the zoo in long sleeves and long pants. The relatives from Ohio went in shorts and short sleeves. Guess what? It was HOT! So, we got home and stripped Maury down to a tee shirt (Auburn, naturally) and his diaper and socks. We joked that he looked like Tom Cruise in Risky Business. Then, he started playing hide and seek in this closet where David keeps his albums. While David and Nikki were working on the tapes for Nikki's big Halloween bash, they played the Bob Seger song just for Maury! |
