Stephen's First Father's Day

I was so excited about Father's Day. I really do love my husband more today than I did when I married him and a lot of that has to do with watching what an incredible father he is. I bought Maury and Stephen some clothes from the WB Store to let them know how I feel about them...they are my Supermen! I couldn't wait to give Stephen this present, so I caved and let him open these on Friday night.

Patty Cake, Patty Cake

This was the big present for Father's Day: a Patty-Cake. These are fabulous bronzed handprints and footprints. In this case, I had Maury's handprint bronzed and the little plaque says, "A Handful of Love for Daddy". These are a perfect gift for a new dad! I already have an appointment to have his foot and hand done on his first birthday so we can hang them on the wall near his portrait. (I have that one year portrait scheduled, too!)

Fathers and Sons

Steve's dad spent Father's Day with us (Steve's mom was out-of-town at one of the THREE family weddings that were on July 17th). He absolutely adores Maury, and you can tell just from the way he looks at him. I think Maury is pretty fond of his Papa, too. I feel very grateful that Maury has four grandparents and two great-grandmothers whom he will grow up very close to. None of them are more than about 3 hours away. That is a blessing.

Can I Help With the Dishes?

Maury's favorite pasttime absolutely has to be standing up. He even stands up on his own for a few seconds now. When we are in the kitchen, he likes to "help" me unload the dishwasher. Unfortunately, we still have an occasional "pull-the-end-table-down-on-top-of-ourselves" accident, but we are hoping that will end as soon as he starts walking.
