Trip to the Zoo It was a chilly morning, but I wanted to get out of the house and get Maury to the zoo. So, we headed out bright and early (and got in on the last free early Saturday a.m.). We had Maury's Nana and Papa join us on our special trip to the zoo. After all, this is one of the great things about being so close to his grandparents...sharing special times like these! Here they all are at the lion's exhibit. |
Our Tourguide Right after we finished at the cat house, we saw this peacock with his tail all spread out showing off to some of the other animals. He let Steve and Maury get real close to him and then even acted as our tourguide down a row of several enclosures! |
The Sea Lion Feeding Pretty soon we found out just how many people were at the zoo. When it was time for the sea lion feeding, that was where everyone was! Maury had to sit on his daddy's shoulders to see and I'm not sure he was watching the sea lions the whole time. We eventually left before the "show" was over to get a ride on the zoo train. Good idea, since the whole crowd was waiting to get on the train when we got back in the station to get off. I guess everyone had that idea! |
Lunch Time! Well, after all of the excitement, Maury was ready for lunch. I packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for him and he and his daddy wolfed (pun intended) that right down. |
Tuckered Out Maury didn't make it very far before falling asleep on the way home. We got home, put him in bed for his nap and he slept for over 3 hours. Nana and Papa babysat Maury that afternoon while we went to a movie and then we brought cheeseburgers home for dinner. That night before bed, I was telling Steve what a great day it had been and Steve agreed and added that he thought Maury thought so, too. He was so happy and bubbly all day. It was just a perfect day! |
