Our Story Stephen and I were married on December 14, 1996. We had been together for over six years by the time our wedding day rolled around. I had always wanted a Christmas wedding and I had it! It was so easy to decorate...the church was filled with poinsettas and a Christmas tree, even, by the weekend of our wedding. All I had to add was an arrangement of red roses and we were basically done decorating the church! |
A Long Engagement Steve is actually 2 1/2 years younger than I am. We met when I was in graduate school at Auburn so we were only in Auburn together for about 9 months before I moved out to start my full time job. Steve spent a few more years wrapping up his undergraduate degree and moved back to his hometown when he was done. He wasn't home long, though, because he decided to go back to Auburn for a different degree. While he was in school that second time, he proposed to me...in October 1995. He wasn't going to be finished with his degree until December 1996, so it was a looooong engagement. This is our engagement portrait we used in the newspaper announcement. It's black and white, but it is my favorite picture of us. |

Who Do The Kids Look Like? Here are a couple pictures of Steve and I when we were babies. I think Steve is about five months old in this picture and I am, well, I'm not sure. Looks like maybe 2 or so. I'll have to get my mom to help me on that one. Anyway, we are told all the time that Maury looks a lot like Steve. Lizzie looks a lot like Maury when you look at pictures of her at the same age, but people don't see it when they look at the kids next to each other. |
Lord Godiva Now, if this doesn't resemble Maury, I don't know what does. Just take a look at the picture of Maury on his Soft Rockin' Tigger to see Maury doing the same thing...bareback riding! Steve is about 18 months old in this picture. |
Mommy's First Easter This isn't a great picture of me, but this is me on my first Easter...so about a year old. I was walking by then, so, Maury is tracking pretty close to me on that one. Maury didn't really get mobile until about 12 1/2 months, but he was teetering around before his birthday. |
My Long Haired Man I just had to let everyone who hasn't known us for very long see the Steve that I met and fell in love with. I think this portrait was from Steve's freshman year at Auburn and he didn't look any different by the time I met him. Well, OK, maybe his hair was longer, but you get the idea. Gosh, his parents hated his long hair...I liked it (and his earring), though! |
